Ruth Kirkby - Paintings
Ruth Kirkby’s diverse career path has included tri-lingual PA, potter, teacher and award-winning botanical illustrator. More recently she has turned to depictions of the beautiful Marches landscapes which surround Presteigne, in oils, pastels and watercolours, and still lives of flowers and fruit.
Her style has developed from the precision of botanical paintings, to a looser and more abstract one. She particularly enjoys the effect of sunlight falling through trees and moonlight over woodland and water.

Tony Lawson - Photography
It is said that emptiness is connected to our feeling of fundamental aloneness. Perhaps that’s true. Empty spaces have always fascinated me, especially man-made structures that are devoid of human occupation. That absence seems to exaggerate the emptiness, the space appears cold and at times can feel a little hostile.

Ciara Lewis - Paintings
I am a mixed media painter with an interest in abstracting the landscape using bold colour, textured layers and dynamic compositions.
I work on varying formats, and my work is drawn from observational sketches and the practice of walking as a methodology to making. I try to capture the emotional feeling of a place rather than a definitive rendition of a landscape.
My work has recently diversified to incorporate sculptural and expanded painting processes using paper manipulation, combining hard and soft surface areas to create work documenting terrain and habitat degradation.

Tania Mosse - Sculpture
I am a sculptor based in Presteigne town. I am primarily a stone carver but also use bronze, wood, clay and wax. My studio shelves are laden with seed pods, dried marine animals, insects, horn and bone. These natural forms and their recurring patterns are my touchstones and I return to them again and again in my work.

Sarah Patterson - Paintings
I am a Presteigne-based artist, currently working across a variety of media, including printmaking, oil paint, and pastel.
I trained at Carmarthen School of Art and enjoy figurative work stemming from many years of life drawing. I am a process-led artist with a background in handmade artist books and narrative-based printmaking, but more recently, my work has brought me back to oils and the process from initial sketch to finished painting.

Claudia Petley - Sculpture
After years of traditional blacksmithing, making gates, railings and candlesticks, Claudia and Paul are following their love of Nature.
This new direction has led them to design and make sculptures focusing on birds and wildlife. Their pieces are made from forged, shaped and welded steel which is then galvanised, etched and allowed to weather naturally.
Claudia and Paul have developed a collaborative working relationship, where both create pieces individually and together. Their work captures the intrinsic essence and character of the subject; the serenity of a barn owl, the rowdiness of a crow, the sleek line of a fish.
